I joined the staff of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1997, finding a niche after a rather peripatetic career path, including stints within higher education and pediatric intervention. With a background in Fine Arts and Psychology, I should have understood where I belonged at an earlier date, but better late than never. My current responsibilities are shifting as I move into the Museum’s newly-created Department of Digital Media, but continue to include oversight of new technology initiatives, public-facing technology, and digital content-related projects. In addition, I am responsible for technology strategies for the management of and workflows that surround the production of digital multimedia assets.

During over 12 years at the Museum, I have worked hard to demystify technology and to integrate it into the overall strategy and mission of the institution. This requires cross-disciplinary collaboration, both within the organization and across other cultural institutions. I have had the privilege to work with and learn from a wide array of professional colleagues through collaborative projects, conference participation, and as a Board Member of MCN – an organization for which in 2010 I assume the position of Vice-President/President Elect.

Some current areas of interest/exploration/focus: (1) Website design, content, interactive interfaces, (2) Content strategy, content managment, content delivery, (3) Multiple voices, social media, transparency, (4) Micro-participation, citizen-scientists, crowd-sourcing, (5) Digital strategy
